The compound had several buildings, a bomb shelter, water storage tanks, a power generator, gardens, storage facilities, and security fences. After the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 and the declaration of war by Nazi Germany on the United States, local police occupied the compound and detained more than 50 Nazi sympathizers who expected Germany to defeat the United States. While some of the buildings have been destroyed by fire, much of the compound remains. The property is currently owned by the City of Los Angeles and is accessible by means of a two mile long trail from the intersection of Capri Drive and Castle Road in Pacific Palisades.
